(August 2021-July 2022)
| PROJECT BRIEF
This development is a great example of innovative manufacturing techniques with LGS (Light Gauge Steel) structures which are fabricated offsite in nearby Longford.
SDS Design engineers acted as Civil/Structural Engineer for Framespace Solutions on the Drumhienry Hideaway project which compromises of 16 beautifully styled cabins on 100 acres built into the estates original walled garden, an outdoor spa with 4 seaweed baths, 2 sunken hot tubs and a giant sauna and 5km of walking trails only 10 minutes from Carrick-on -Shannon.

| PROJECT EXCELLENCE
These 16 units in beautiful woodland surrounds outside Leitrim Village achieved a BER A rating with the help of a Breathable Monolithic Membrane which keeps the heat inside, through a well-insulated, airtight structure, utilising EXOPERM MONO 150 and IZOPERM PLUS membranes for the wall, and roof panels.
A tight project design stage was required due to the hard opening date of the holiday village for Summer 2022. This required a phase design process that was worked in conjunction with the LGS manufacturer. Even after multiple design
reconsiderations the project was delivered in an efficient and timely manner.

| TECHNICAL CHALLENGES
The front façade for each different cabin has a full glazing system that needed thorough review and design, and specifically designed structural elements to ensure the deflection of the truss were within the glass façade limits.
The sloping site provided a challenge for the piling designer and in turn required SDS to work with them to develop a connection between the floor platform structure. We need to ensure that a connection would work at the different pile locations.
| SUSTAINABILITY
The use of LGS manufactured in Ireland reduces the transportation carbon footprint while also to the manufacturing process. Bespoke elements for each cabin are manufactured therefore reducing the glass façade limits.
The design had to take into consideration constructability of the cabins as the minimum amount of deforestation was completed.
